Maryam Goli (scientific name: Salvia officinalis) is a perennial and herbaceous plant, has straight roots and has many branches of the straight stem and its height is between 50 to 80 cm.
The stems of this plant are dark green and covered with dense hairs and its color pale green to gray. As the plant life increases, its stem turns woody and brown. The leaves are long and boat-shaped.
On each branch there are 5 to 8 flowers. hazelnut-shaped fruit with color of light or dark brown. The diameter of the plant crown is about 55 cm.
The weight of each thousand seeds is 61.55 grams and the germination period is 12 days.
This plant belongs to the order of Lamiales and Lamiaceae. The flowering time of this plant is spring and its habitat is on the rocky slopes of Alborz and Zagros mountains. This plant is native to Iran.
